I had a good time at Irene's wedding dinner at Conrad Centennial Hotel yesterday.

Irene was clad in Keith's gorgeous wedding and evening dress with hair and makeup done by the top-notch Clarence and Dexter. Perfect combi!

We got busy taking photos while waiting for the banquet to start. There was live streaming and photocards for keepsake.

We visited the new ArtScienceMuseum last week with Sean! I had a pretty good afternoon there.

The place is pretty huge, so do plan to start earlier. We decided to go at the last minute at about 3pm so it was kind of rushed.

There are 3 exhibitions going on now: Genghis Khan, The Silk Road and Shipwrecked.

Liked the Genghis Khan exhibit the best, there was a interesting Mongolian performance too.

One of the recent places that I dined at recently. This restaurant is tucked in the quiet area of Portsdown. My first time in this area, the surroundings looks kinda creepy but I love the cosy & rustic restaurant setting. It's great for both dates and gatherings.

I'd say the food is pretty good. Worth a try if you'd take the effort to get there.

As usual I'm usually so hungry that I forgot to take pix of the food save for the dessert.

This Madrid trip marks the first European country that I have visited. Lovely city!

1st dinner in Spain. Beer, paella, half chicken, pasta, tapas. We over-ordered, over-ate and over-spent.

Day 2:

Streets r quiet even at 9am.

Breakfast at Mac. Not so cheap.

Baby broke down

Zzzz started out a good day. Woke up very early and started my day young.

After just 1 appointment, on my way to lunch. Baby suddenly sputtered. And dragged.

After barely 5 metres, I gave up trying in case the engine really died.

And then I called Cycle to come tow my car. Made a fuss about me having juz done a full servicing and paid about $2.2k. And then it broke down after just a week?

After waiting for 45 min in the drizzle. Tow truck finally came. Was really paranoid about the cars banging into the stationery vehicle even with the triangle plate. So i stood there with my red GE umbrella.

* Baby on Tow. Heartbroken. Pls don't make me spend more $$!

Siem Reap June 2010

* before i set off for Siem Reap. did some damage. I can never resist a cute palette!

* Siem Reap airport. A small place but it's really quite pretty. Like a resort.

* our lodging. Angkor Palace Resort. Great place and good value! We paid about SGD 90/night per pax. 5 star facilities and service.

* temples galore. Took us about 1 day plus to complete trekking through most of the temples. Had to skip some cuz it's too tiring!

* 2nd morning we chartered a tuk tuk to see the sunrise. Set off at 5am in the morning.

* sunrise at Angkor Wat. Lovely sight!

* settled into the tuk tuk. Just too lazy to get down and visit the last few temples.

* night out at the pub. cheap for singapore standards. the places are all quite chic!

* tomb raider.

* passed by padi fields.

* hotel rooms * what am I doing by the pool? I don't swim and I don't like the sun!

* my favourite hotel facility! the golf range! had a great time there. and was lucky a nice japanese man helped to coach me. Though he hardly spoke English, I managed to catch all his pointers. Fun practice!

*local roadside dishes. reminds me of BKK. suitable for me!

I say Siem Reap is worth a trip! But don't plan for a long trip. Thought there's just Angkor Wat worth visiting and take some time to enjoy the hotel facilities if you choose a good resort!

Parco Millennia

Finally did a visit to Parco at Millennia Walk. A small department store and I had expectations of the place.

Personally I find the layout beguiling. Jewellery, sundries, living, skincare, lifestyle... all the categories were haphazardly placed. Couldn't understand the flow. The nicest shop in it was the stationery shop. But I guess the restaurants would be worth a try.

Hope to see more and better changes!

Our tea break at Octa Hotel. Prices are slightly on the high side. The exterior looks great like a Parisian Hotel. There's also a small little corner selling pretty little knick knacks. However, the seating area is not as pretty.

Chanel Watch launch

These watches are not quite in my league yet... but thks to my friend I got to check it out up close at the launch yesterday. Ok.. I'm the kaypo one, always tagging along to events!

I think the highlight was more of dinner! 7 Sensations at Little India! It serves really good vegetarian food. Must try! But there's a slight parking problem though since it's tucked in between the narrow rows of shophouses. We love the Gado Gado, fish curry and fried tofu... yummy!

Chai Chee Bak Chor Mee

I'm refraining from uploading food pix into my blog for Mdm Sim who complained... So I shall share it in my blog!

We noticed the Chai Chee bak chor mee stall next to the HK cafe along East Coast Rd and went for a try. I miss my S11 Chai Chee bak chor mee. Was hoping it would be close to that.

* only 1 stove for cooking. I wonder how they cope when it's packed?

* don't like the barley drink though.

* wanton looks pale but it tastes fine. (prawn is not supposed to be there. Ming doesn't eat prawns -removed it from his bak chor mee.)

* my mee pok dry with chilli. Yum!!! I like it, the noodle has a nice springy taste. I'll be back!

How great life can be...I was elated to get my lovely Baby back (though still some stuff to change too). - REALLY happy!

And then all the air-conditioners broke down in my home. Had to bunk in at mummy's place.

Then I had to lose my PHONE of all items plus the bloody guy took my SIM card. I could pay that idiot $ just to get it back intact. All my notes, contacts and SMSes, work reminders are inside. *sigh. I hope the stupid person who steals it doesn't harass anyone from the phone list.

And my landlord needs us to move out in July. So....

With such a "lovely" weekend I think next week onwards things SHALL take a good turn. Because it cannot get any worse! (cross my fingers).

We went to the Asia Trader & Investor Convention (ATIC) over the weekend with Aaron and Susan. My first time at such a convention, it was really a small scale event. There was nothing much interesting to me probably cuz I'm an outsider.

* we attended John Carter's talk. It's a familiar voice that I hear almost daily from ming's computer. Din know he's pretty young to start with. Think his "wife" stories are funny. I'm not that bad an audience, did catch some points!

* then we went shopping at Carrefour. Was supposed to just get some organice vegetables for my mum. But ended up.... buying 4 bottles of wine. And Susan got the Glennfiddich whiskey cake?! Even the cake has to contain alcohol. Tsk.

Dinner@Bukit Timah Guild House

Since my dad stopped working, he has been eating as healthily as my mum and he kept complaining. So I brought him out to an evening of fine dining at NUSS Bukit Timah.

The food is excellent and really very well-priced at $38.90 (no service charge!) for a 4 course inclusive of coffee/tea. The location is also small & cosy with a great atmosphere of a rustic colonial restoration bungalow.

We had in sequence:
Bread
Starters: Salmon 3 big helpings
Soup
Plum like sorbet
Main
Dessert
Coffee/Tea.

I'd want to go back there again despite the hidden location. Yum!

HK Incentive Trip

Very few pix to post this trip. Cuz I was using Vincent's camera and he hasn't bothered to even copy the pix onto his computer! I shall post whatever little pix I taken on my hp on FB.

Our first trip together as a team without our leader... it was a pretty good and happy vacation. Seems like our characters are exactly as it is at work and at vacation so I'd say we make a great team! We had some shopping (yay i'm not the top spender!), eating and DRINKING. Vin did not 酒后吐真言... we will try again!

Been working on my new blog on a different blog platform - wordpress.

Trying to figure out how to use the tools and layout the page till I'm happy with it.

This will be a blog where I separate my work events and my mum's updates from my own happy events.

I'm happy that finally I found the energy to do it but it's hard work!

Baby Powder

I just started using this baby compact powder from Pigeon. It looks like a normal powder compact and is supposed to work like one! At only $7+, it's a good buy!

The coverage is weak though it absorbs oil. I use it on weekends over my sunblock when I want to give my skin a break. The available colours are quite light though, darker skinned friends will have problems getting a match.

Yay! The review showed good response to the drug used. Cancer marker has dropped after 2 weeks. The same treatment shall be administered and antibiotics given for the pimples.

Even with a low co-payment of 15%, we have to pay about $1k monthly from medisave. What if there was no subsidy and no insurance?

Private Vs Public

When people are well, they think they need the lowest coverage. But when they or their closest one are unwell... they just want them to have the best... to see the doctor asap, to seek the diagnosis and treatment asap.

A member of my family was unwell recently and the scheduled tests at the govt hospital and was slated at a very much later date much to our anxiety. Subsequently we decided to pay more to cut the queue. Within half an hour of calling the private specialist, we got an appointment and did the tests immediately. Speed is important when diagnosing possible problems but the govt hospitals are overloaded! Would anyone refuse better treatment if they could?

On another note, I just saw on FB that our ex-AHS principal, Mr Moo had passed on from cancer at a mere age of 63. How fragile life is. Rest in peace Sir...

A belated post yet again. We had a internal agency awards ceremony this year abit later than usual. A very special occasion this year, we had very special guests and a good location this year at Peach Garden @ OCBC Centre.

We went to visit Resorts World on one of the CNY days. Found it to be a pretty small IR and there were few good shopping and F&B places around. We wanted to have dinner there but couldn't find anything interesting. So, we ended up at supposedly prestigious Tower Club on the 62nd floor of Republic Plaza. It was our first time there at the private club for dinner.

* gorgeous view * ming & vincent were in jeans - inappropriate attire for the location. So they were forced to wear jackets provided.

* Versace tableware

* & a free dessert for something unpleasant that happened there. Since they made up for it promptly, I shall not elaborate.

They had good food though it was very expensive, the place looked a little old but they used premium furniture etc. Good for a once-off experience.

Despite the horrible start to my CNY, I had a good memory of it this year. It's priceless to catch my Daddy playing WII. He did really well for a first-timer, playing bowling and archery! I gotta get it when I have my new home. Maybe we can play it together.

Can't resist a pretty packaging when replenishing my supplies... Came across the current limited edition (I think) range... Loved all of them but I only needed a blusher. I am no longer a hoarder - I stopped buying make-up and skincare to store.

High Tea @ St Regis

A very belated post. We went to St Regis for high tea to celebrate Madeline's birthday. My favourite hotel of all time, St Regis is a gorgeous location!

* look at the grand lift decor, the fresh exotic flowers etc...

* and a pool view from the restaurant.

* a tray of scones, sandwiches and pastries.

* love scones!

* vincent's choice of the main was the best - satay!

* and the worst - 2 miserable pieces of dim sum

* my quiche was small but fulfilling.

A lovely place but the service standard dropped. Food portion was miserably small though nice. I'll say not worth the price unless the service improve. I say - I still love St Regis as a location.

My yummy dinner at Kuriya late last month with my lovely hall mates Audrey and Niq... and we went on to have some drinks at Mr Punch. How time flies, I've known my them for 9 years!

* The small portions of each item was just enough to fill us without feeling too full. Lovely dinner.

Gourmet Chocolate Workshop

The long-awaited chocolate workshop organised by NUSS, whereby the instructor of the day was an ex-pastry/dessert chef from Ritz Carlton. We were so looking forward to it.

I would say that the chef herself was probably very qualified and great at her job. But it was probably the first time that she taught. The way it was carried out was unorganised and not very enlightening.

The chocolate mix was done for us, like a kids' class. They gave us the ready ingredients and the chocolate mix and you get to mould them etc. The Chef was unable to give clear instructions and left the class in bewilderment. She couldn't verbalise the steps that she was doing, assuming that we understood. Thank goodness for the facilitator who spoke clearly and conveyed our questions. However, some questions were never really understood and answered.

The recipe sheet given was not clear enough and it didn't have all the items that we were making. In the end, I just gave up paying attention and just played with the chocolates like they were playdough. Not worth my $48!
